Hey Dierks Fans! Dierks shot this amazing video for us at the Fan Club Party in Nashville!
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2009, 11 AM, COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME
CMAFEST 2009 was loaded with Dierks! It all started at the Country Music Hall of Fame on Wednesday morning, when Dierks had a CD signing event at the shop there. I had bought my voucher online at 10 a.m. on June 1 (my birthday!) and I was in the “A” group, from 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. When I saw him I threw my arms out and said, “Hey Darlin’!” He said, “Hey Valerie!” I told him that I had started the lovefordierks.com website and he was excited about it.
Here is my photo with Dierks: After the picture was taken I grabbed my camera back and scored a shot of Dierks signing my CD!
I told him that I had written a song for Evie called “The Other Woman” and so he had a little fun with me! Look how he signed my CD!
How do you like my new nickname?
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2009, 1 PM, COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME
There were three more groups (”B”, “C”& “D”) and the event lasted until 1 p.m. I had been walking around Lower Broadway and just happened to make it back to the museum at 1 p.m. At this point Dierks started signing for the “hopefuls.” Those are the fans that did not purchase a voucher but just waited around to try their luck at the end of the event. Dierks was so accommodating! I started the video just to see what he would do and I got a fabulous movie of Dierks working the crowd! You will see him looking at the camera. He probably thought that I was going to take a picture. I said, “See you later, babe.” He said “Bye Sweetie!” ENJOY!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2009, 5 PM, CANNERY BALLROOM
The fan club party was truly memorable. However, I do take issue with the name! The back of the souvenir t-shirt is shown above. I love the graphics especially since red is my favorite color! The confusing part is that the regional fan club parties held last year in 2008 were referred to as Last Call Ball 5 also. (I attended the one in Minneapolis and I have that shirt too!) So I will refer to the party as LCB5/2009.
I shot a video of every song! I will be posting all of them soon.
Dierks finally performed DON’T LEAVE ME IN LOVE live. I have been pulling for this song since 2003! I believe that this is his best song ever. The video could be over-the-top-amazing and an entire movie could be made from it. PAY ATTENTION DIERKS!!! Here is my meet and greet photo with Dierks. I am wearing my Dierks vest which has at least one button for every time I have been to one of his shows. I have finally reached 30 shows! I have also been to a hockey game. (Please see the FEEL THAT FIRE ON ICE blog.) The hockey button is on the upper right side right next to Dierks.
Enough of that formal stuff! I want a hug! (And I got one!)
On the way out Dierks passed right by his famous truck! I JUST HAD TO GET A PICTURE! So here it is!
I rented a car while I was in Nashville, and before the festival I visited my family in Athens, Alabama. I just happened to get a Little White Toyota Yaris!
This is a photo that I took of Dierks and my left hand with the pick that he placed in my left hand from the stage of a show at the McElroy Auditorium in Waterloo, Iowa in November 5, 2005. I was standing right in front of him against the stage and amidst all of the noise and ruckus I looked up at him and said, “I want a pick!” I have been carrying that pick around for a long time. I finally got the idea to print the photo out and have Dierks sign it for me. At the Last Call Ball at the end of the line he did just that! Dierks has a great sense of balance and his signature is just gorgeous! This was after he had already signed for hundreds of fans that evening! What an artist!
This is my signed stash for the evening:
I am now dedicating an entire room of my house to Dierks!
THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 2009, 8 PM, LP FIELD
Tiffany and I had a great time waiting on the photo line for Dierks at LP Field. The photo line gets fans as close to the stage as possible behind the press line. It’s a really great opportunity to get up close and personal photos of your favorite artists.
I found a great use for the photo line sign when the heat finally got to me!
Valerie and the Dierks Bentley Photo Line Sign Uploaded by valerieid. – Music videos, artist interviews, concerts and more. There was a terrible scare at about 9 p.m. A tornado was coming towards us and we had to leave our seats and seek shelter. It finally changed direction, but by the time Dierks actually performed it was the next morning! Here he is singing SIDEWAYS. Now this is from the fan photo line which is as close to the stage as you can get to take pictures. I shot a video instead and it actually turned out quite good. I even turned Dierks SIDEWAYS towards the end! This performance will be televised in the three-hour special which will be telecast at the end of August.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2009, 1 PM, OPRY SHOP, LOWER BROADWAY
You can find Dierks everywhere in Nashville! I was shopping in the new Opry Shop on Lower Broadway and I heard Dierks singing Free and Easy. There he was on the wall! All four of him! A very nice lady took this picture of me with Dierks. She got a great shot!
TONS MORE TO COME!
I GOT TO BE DIERKS BENTLEY’S HOCKEY MOM FOR A DAY! What a weekend! When I planned to attend Dierks Bentley’s Mystic Lake Casino concert in Prior Lake, Minnesota on Saturday, April 25, 2009, I definitely got more than I bargained for! I had been wanting to watch Dierks play hockey, and I thought that I would have to go to Nashville to see him. I have heard that fans have done just that! This is how the weekend unfolded. For the Saturday evening concert, I was thrilled to have been selected for my annual meet and greet opportunity. ![]() Dierks and Valerie @ Mystic Lake Casino Here I am pictured with Dierks. He was wearing a New York t-shirt and I grew up in New York. How nice of him! I was wearing my Opry little white tank top and Dierks lives in Nashville as well as being a member of the Opry. What a great coincidence! Dierks had never seen this particular tank before. I had bought it in Nashville at the Opry gift shop last year when I was there for the CMA Music Festival. I collect them and usually have a different one on each time I get a photo op with him. Little did I know that there would be another one within a day! During the Meet and Greet chat, Dierks mentioned that he had played in a hockey game that morning across the street. During the concert, he announced towards the end of the show that he might be playing hockey at 11am the next day. So I just Googled Ice Arena and found the Dakotah! Ice Center next door to the casino. Apparently, Dierks had told the radio station that had coordinated the games NOT to announce them to the fans on the air. Oops! Here’s what happened at the Dakotah! Ice Center: I was the only Dierks fan there. It was a really strange experience to be alone at a place where Dierks would be “performing.” I met Dierks when he walked into the rink with a couple of other guys. I walked right up to him and said, “Hi, Darlin’! I came to watch you play. Which rink will you be on?” He laughed and said, “I don’t know. I’m just following him.” The guy he was with said it was Rink 1. I watched Dierks walk back towards the locker room and before he followed the guy down the hall he looked back at me and then said to him, “That’s Valerie.” I figured that guy was shocked that any fan was there and couldn’t believe that Dierks would know anyone who lived in Minnesota! I entered the arena and positioned myself next to the door to the ice. The players were trickling in from the locker rooms. Finally Dierks appeared at the end of the hall. When he reached me he let me take a picture of him. Dierks was wearing his ICEHOLES jersey. That’s the name of the team he plays for in Nashville. These are some pictures of Dierks wearing his ICEHOLES team shirt with BENTLEY 7 on the back! He wore it while he was warming up. For the game, Dierks changed into a black University of Minnesota hockey shirt. (The shirt is emblazoned with a large letter M in maroon and gold. He was on the black team and his ICEHOLES shirt was mostly white.) Dierks scored a number of times and the crowd (by now there were six of us in the arena) went wild! Dierks raised his stick in victory and then skated by the fans! He tapped his stick on the plexiglass. Dierks looked right at me and smiled for the camera as he left the ice. I asked him if we could take pictures with him and he agreed. We waited for him to come out and he was so sweet. We had a great chat and he signed for us and posed for pictures. This little white tank was purchased at the LOVELESS Cafe in Nashville. It’s one of the best restaurants in Nashville (southwest of downtown at 8400 Highway 100) and they are famous for their biscuits. Pictures of country music stars cover their walls. Kristin is wearing a blue Dierks shirt and Samantha has on her black Dierks hoodie. I am wearing my one-of-a-kind Dierks Bentley belt buckle shown enlarged below. I gave Dierks a present called Fatherhood. It’s a set of poetry magnets for the fridge. He liked it. Then I also gave him a Derryl Perry CD from 2005 with a cover version of I CAN’T FORGET HER, which is on Dierks’ FEEL THAT FIRE CD. Clay Walker recorded the original version back in 2003, which Dierks knew about. He did not know about the second one. I told him that it was cool for me to be able to give him a gift like that. I am a songwriter so I am keenly interested in the origins of songs. I was intrigued by that one because Dierks did not write it and he rarely records songs by other writers. Now for the fun part! I just love showing off Dierks. So I make buttons for every encounter with him. These are the buttons from this event!
